- M2 Ultra
It’s a new member of the M2 chip family that pushes the boundaries of Mac performance to an unprecedented level. Equipped with a 24-core CPU, it promises to be a high-performing chip using which you can double its performance capacity. It’s definitely an upgrade over the M1 Ultra with its graphics prowess and 76-core GPU, making it 30% more super speedy.
Apart from the stated, it supports an expanded memory capacity of 50% over the previous chip version. So, users can now expect to overcome the limitations of former chips and handle massive machine-learning tasks like never before.
- iOS 17
Expect notable improvements in your typing experience with iOS 17 – Apple’s newest software update. Under it, autocorrect leverages on-device machine learning to refine keyboard intelligence. With the addition of the SOTA transformer language model, you can now experience significantly improved prediction accuracy when typing on iPhones.
Apart from an improvement in typing, iPhone’s keyword has also witnessed an upgrade in the dictation feature. The credit goes to the transformer-based speech recognition model for leveraging its neutral engine and delivering accurate results.
- macOS Sonoma
One of the major highlights of WWDC 2023 was its most recent desktop OS version – macOS 14. Named Sonoma, it was titled according to the practice of naming releases after Californian places. One of its most significant features is widgets with the functionality adopted from Apple’s mobile environment. When in use, they never take over the screen but adapt dynamically. Being interactive, such widgets have improved UX, allowing actions like choosing photos from the widget window quite effortlessly.
- Apple Watch
A string of new features has surfaced on WatchOS with WatchOS 10. This time, the focus is more on mental health and privacy. Expect users to track moods and measure screen time through added widgets on the screen.
- Gaming Mode
Game Mode is only one of several measures done by Apple to improve the gaming experience on Mac. Significant tweaks in Metal 3—its graphics technology is responsible. It’s evident from gaming titles like Resident Evil Village, where there has been an unprecedented improvement in performance.
Another aspect worth noticing is the evaluation process, where games were tested for compatibility and performance. Earlier, it was a matter of three months. The procedure has been expedited and finished in a few days thanks to the launch of the game porting toolkit. This implies that developers can now launch new games into the Mac ecosystem in little time.
- Safari Updates
Built from scratch, Apple’s browser will now run on WebKit technology. This is something that powers millions of apps. With the company placing a high priority on privacy, users shall now enjoy improved private surfing where windows will be locked, and trackers will be prevented and eliminated from URLs. Users can also separate work from personal browsing and share passwords safely through iCloud Keychain.
To top it all, users of Mac can now access sites quickly through web apps, which promises an app-like experience without necessitating extra development work. This was unimaginable without flawless integration and simplified tools! In short, you can browse your favourite websites from Safari on Mac.
- Apple Health App
If you use iPhone, we assume you are already familiar with the Health app. As expected, the app shall soon hit iPads, typically the OS 17 later in the year. Apple announced access to electrocardiogram results and other health credentials on a bigger screen. The data thus generated can be accessed from a variety of Apple products, including the Apple Watch, iPad and iPhone. Users will enjoy more control over health metrics on not just iPhones but iPads as well.
